GoMate is a navigation app by Origo Technologies. This document explains what data is collected when you use GoMate, what it is used for, where and how long it is stored, who it is shared with, and what rights you have. It is written to comply with Vietnam's Decree 13/2023/ND-CP on personal data protection.

2. Data we collect and why

2.1. Location

GoMate needs the device location to show where you are on the map, navigate, warn about road signs and speed limits, and find places near you. When you search for a route or a place, or while navigating, your current coordinates, origin and destination are sent to the GoMate server to calculate routes, return search results and road-sign data for the road you are on.

Location is used only while the app is open or navigating. During navigation a foreground service (with a notification in the status bar) keeps navigation running when the screen is off or you switch apps. The app does not request background location permission and does not track you when you are not using it.

You grant or revoke location permission in the operating system settings. Without it the app cannot navigate.

2.2. Trip traces

After each navigated trip, the app uploads the GPS trace of that trip to the server to detect new roads, one-way streets, turn restrictions and fix map data. A trace contains coordinates, timestamps and speed along the way, the route the app suggested and where you left it. Before upload the app drops the first and last 200 m of the trip and does not include the destination name. Traces are linked to the installation ID (section 2.5), not to your account, unless you turn on "Sync trip history" in your account profile.

This is on by default. Turn it off at Settings › Navigation › Upload trip traces. Later trips are then not uploaded; traces already uploaded are handled as described in section 5.

2.3. Account (optional)

All navigation features work without an account. When you sign in, we store:

• Your mobile phone number (used as the login name and verified by an SMS one-time code) and any other sign-in methods you link.
• Display name and profile photo, if you set them.
• Saved places (home, work, favourites), search history and app settings, so they are available on another device.
• Trip history, only if you turn on "Sync trip history".

2.4. Road incident reports

When you submit a report (traffic jam, accident, flooding, roadworks, road closure, other hazard), we store the incident type, location, time and the reporting account. Reports are used to warn other users and fix road data. Each account has a reputation score based on its reports.

2.5. Technical data

• Installation ID (Firebase Installation ID): a random identifier tied to the installation on your device, sent with every request to the server for rate limiting and to link trip traces. Uninstalling the app discards it.
• Usage events (Firebase Analytics): the type of action and discrete parameters such as vehicle type, number of routes or search category. No coordinates, place names or search text.
• Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): stack traces, device model, OS and app version when the app crashes.
• App attestation (Firebase App Check with Play Integrity): verifies that requests to the server come from the official GoMate build.
• Server logs: time, API path, installation ID and IP address, for operations and abuse prevention.

GoMate does not use the device advertising ID and shows no ads.

2.6. Data kept only on your device

Search history, saved places, settings, imported map layers (KML, GeoJSON, GPX), trip history and offline maps are stored on the device. When you are not signed in, this data does not leave your device. You can delete it in the app's Settings or by uninstalling the app.

2.7. Website and location-sharing page

gomate.origo.vn uses no tracking cookies; your language choice is stored in the browser. When you share a location from the app, the share link contains the coordinates; anyone with the link can see that location.

3. Sharing

We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising. Data is passed to the following parties, only as far as needed:

• Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, App Check, Installations; Google Play location services): technical data listed in section 2.5, under Google's privacy policy.
• Map, place and routing data provider: the GoMate server forwards the coordinates and queries needed to return search results, routes and road signs.
• Traffic data provider (TomTom): the GoMate server fetches traffic for the map area being viewed, not your individual position.
• Government authorities: when lawfully required.

4. Storage and security

GoMate servers are located in Vietnam. Data between the app and the server travels over HTTPS. Requests must pass app attestation and an API key; account data is accessible only through your signed-in session. Firebase data is stored on Google infrastructure. No measure is absolutely secure; if an incident affects personal data we will notify affected users and the competent authority as required by law.

6. Your rights

Under Decree 13/2023/ND-CP you have the right to be informed, to consent, to access, correct and delete your data, to withdraw consent, to restrict or object to processing, to obtain your data, and to complain. How to exercise them:

• View or edit profile, places and history: in the app under Settings › Account.
• Stop uploading trip traces: Settings › Navigation › Upload trip traces.
• Stop syncing trip history: Profile › Sync trip history.
• Delete your account: Profile › Delete account, or follow the account deletion page.
• Anything else: email [email protected] from the phone number or email linked to your account. We respond within 72 hours of receiving a request.

7. Children

GoMate is not intended for people under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at the email above and we will delete it.

8. Changes

When this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its effective date. Changes that materially affect how your data is used will be announced in the app before they take effect.
